Ylläs Bike School serves both beginners and more experienced mountain bikers who want to achieve the perfect technique. Our modern equipment and safety gear guarantee a pleasant and memorable experience at Finland’s largest bike park!

Downhill biking is a fun, fast-paced activity that can be challenging in a fell setting. Learning the basics with a teacher is much easier and nicer than alone. We offer both courses and private lessons.

The courses for this summer

Get to know the Bike park
Duration 2 hours, price €55/person.
This course is the easiest way to get involved in enjoying bike park riding. The course is intended for adults and juniors already riding a full-sized mountain bike. No previous experience is required. The course begins with the carpet lift area’s smooth and easy trails by familiarizing with the bike and the trails. After the mandatory riding skills are checked, it’s time to switch to the easy-to-use chair lift and to the famous Ylläs flow trails. The goal is to enable independent bike park riding on the easy flow trails of Ylläs bike park safely and comfortably.
A proper, working mountain bike with hand operated brakes affecting both wheels is needed. A helmet and gloves are also required, a full-face type helmet and other protectors (knee, elbow…) are recommended. Hill Ski Rent shop next to the gondola provides solutions to all equipment demands.
The meeting place is in front of the Ylläs bike park chair lift. Please reserve enough time for dressing the equipment so that the course can start at the given time.

Quality time in the Ylläs way
Duration 3 hours, Price alltogether €115 for the group of 3-4 persons
Quality time in the Ylläs way class is the best choice for families and other groups seeking for a mutual memorable bike park experience. The professional local guides know the bike park inside out and make sure that that the best trails and views are covered without the fear of getting in too demanding places. The trails used are selected specially for the group riding skills. The goal is to have a great time together in Ylläs bike park.

The grand tour of Ylläs Bike Park
Duration 3 hours, price €89,90/person
The grand tour of Ylläs bike park takes the experienced park riders to the very best gravity trails in the area. The tour begins with world class flow trails of Ylläs lower hill side leading up to conquering the longest enduro singletracks in Finnish bike parks. Local professional bike park guides present exclusive perspectives for the highest bike park views in Finland. This tour is the choice of a rider / group seeking the ultimate bike park riding experience in Finnish Lapland.
Attendees are required to handle intermediate (European scale red) trails and the fluent use of chair and gondola lifts. Air skills are not mandatory. The most suitable bike is a modern enduro mountain bike. A helmet and knee pads are required. A full face type helmet and other protection according to rider’s considerations are recommended. Hill Ski Rent shop next to the gondola is a great help in all equipment issues.
The meeting point is in front of the main bike park chair lift. The tour is presented in English or Finnish according to the group preferences.

Riding technique for beginners
Duration 2 hours, price €59,90/person
The riding technique beginner course is intended to the newly started mountain bikers who are looking for more controlled and safer riding in bike park or on trails. The course is an introduction to the proper riding techniques. The basics of bike control are exercised at first in the safe training area and then put into service on easy trails. The class also includes an introduction to essential equipment and riding etiquette. The goal is to make riding more controlled and safer for the beginner riders both in the bike park and out on the trails.
The class is well suited for a first entry level course. Riders with more than 50 hours of experience are recommended to join the essential riding technique course.  The exercises are intended for adults and riders using a full-size mountain bike. For kid courses please contact the bike school. A proper, working mountain bike with hand operated brakes affecting both wheels is needed. A helmet and gloves are also required. The bike rental shops in the area provide solutions to all equipment demands.

Essential riding techniques
Duration 3 hours, price €69.90/person
Essential riding technique course is intended for riders of more than 50 hours mountain biking experience. The class concentrates on getting the body position right and getting familiar with bike-body separation techniques. The goal is to enable more controlled, safer and if you want to, faster riding. The course suits well as a first MTB course for adults and junior riders with full-sized mountain bikes.
Attendees are expected to already handle the basic use of gears, brakes and other controls fluently. The class has no other skill pre-requirements, and it is well suited to riders both in bike park and on trails. The course ends in optional familiarization with the chair lift and easy flow trail. All the exercises are performed in the training area suitable for all level riders. The drills are tailored to suit the skill level of independent riders so that also more experienced riders can boost their riding with practice. The essential equipment and riding etiquette are also introduced during the course.

Ylläs Pro X courses 
Duration 3 hours, price €110/person
Ylläs Pro X course consept is the platform to present courses from the premier MTB skills coaches to the intermediate – expert level riders. The local and visiting experienced coaches tutor subject-specific classes for jumping, enduro, flow-riding etc. Also, outside the bike park (trail / XC) specific courses are available. This is the choice of a rider seeking the highest-level skills training.
The courses are intended for adults and junior riders using a full-sized mountain bike. The fluent bike handling base skills are required in all courses. Understanding the bike park safety rules and lift use is expected on courses using lifts. Likewise, a full-face type helmet, knee pads and cloves are mandatory always when the lifts are used during training. A helmet is mandatory in all courses. Attendees are expected to be able independently select the proper type of bike and equipment according to the course topic.

Private lessons
Duration 2 hours, Price €69. Additional participants in the same lesson €30€/person.

All courses begin with warm up / technique lesson on training zone prior to exercises on the topic specific trails / areas.
