SNOW KART – OUR FUN AND THRILLING WINTER ACTIVITY
Snow Kart is available on the Äkäslompolo side of the ski resort. To enjoy this activity, you will need a dedicated Snow Kart rental ticket and a specially designed sled.
All Snow Kart sessions start at the Y1 Rental Shop, located at the main base area on the Äkäslompolo side of the resort. Here, you can purchase your Snow Kart rental ticket and collect your helmet. You will also receive all the necessary instructions before setting off.
There are three designated Snow Kart runs:
- GO Snow Kart – Run 53, 480 m long, illuminated
- FLOW Snow Kart – Run 75, approx. 500 m long
- KULKURI Snow Kart – Run 51, 500 m long, illuminated
These runs are reserved exclusively for Snow Kart users. They are accessed via the Perhe Lift (Family Lift). Signs at the lift exit will direct you to the different runs. The runs are marked on the piste map in orange, with sled symbols.
The specially designed Snow Kart sleds are equipped with steering wheels and brakes. They are also designed to be attached to the lift for the uphill ride.

Opening Hours
The target opening dates for the Snow Kart runs, followed by more detailed opening hours, will be updated on the piste map.
Once opened, Snow Kart will be available daily throughout the season.
Prices
- 1 hour: €19.50
- 2 hours: €29.50
The price includes sled and helmet rental, as well as lift access during the rental period.
For safety reasons, users must be at least 140 cm tall or 12 years old.
The price is the same for everyone, regardless of whether you already have your own helmet or a valid lift pass.
Snow Kart sleds may only be used on the designated Snow Kart runs. The lift pass included in the rental ticket is valid only at the Perhe Lift (Family Lift) and Kulkurihissi lift gates.
Only sleds specifically designed for Snow Kart and rented from the resort may be used on the Snow Kart runs.
A separate children’s sledding area, where children can use traditional sleds and steering sleds, is located in the Ylläs KIDS North area.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SNOW KART
I already have a valid lift pass. Can I use it for Snow Kart?
-A dedicated Snow Kart rental ticket is always required. The ticket includes the rental of a Snow Kart sled and helmet.
Can I use my own steering sled on the runs?
-For safety reasons, only sleds specifically designed for Snow Kart and rented from the Y1 Rental Shop may be used on the designated runs.
Why can’t people under 140 cm tall or under 12 years old use the runs? Can a child or young person ride with an adult?
-The steering sleds used for Snow Kart are relatively heavy and must be kept under control in different situations, including while descending, braking and getting on and off the lift. This is why a minimum height requirement applies.
-The sleds are designed for one rider at a time, so unfortunately, children and young people cannot ride together with an adult.
How can I check when Snow Kart is open?
-Snow Kart is available when the designated Snow Kart runs and their associated lifts are open, in accordance with Snow Kart’s operating hours. Typical opening hours are 9/10 am–5/7 pm, depending on the day and operating schedule.
