SNOW KART

SNOW KART – OUR NEW THRILLING WINTER ACTIVITY

New in Snow Kart! A second slope now open.

Lift assisted sledding, now known as Snow Kart, has expanded with the addition of a second slope.

Snow Kart can be enjoyed on the Äkäslompolo/North side of the ski resort.

Dedicated tracks have been built on two slopes: the 480-metre-long Snow Kart Slope and the 500-metre-long Kulkurinrinne slope. These slopes are reserved exclusively for Snow Kart use.

From the exit of the Family Lift, clear signage guides riders along a designated transfer route to the bottom station of the Kulkurin Lift.

The Snow Kart sleds are specially designed, featuring steering wheels and brakes. They also include a mechanism that allows the sled to be securely attached to the ski lift during the uphill ride.

Snow Kart begins at the Äkäslompolo main station, Y1 rental, where you can purchase a sled rental ticket, receive a helmet, and get necessary instructions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SNOW KART

I already have a valid lift ticket. Can I use it for Snow Kart?
-Snow Kart always requires a specific sled rental ticket, which includes the rental of the sled and helmet.

Can I use my own sled on the track?
-For safety reasons, only sleds rented from Y1 rental specifically for this purpose are allowed on the track.

Why individuals shorter than 140 cm or younger than 12 years are not allowed on the track? Can a child ride with an adult?
-The sled used for Snow Kart is quite heavy and must be controlled in various situations: while descending, braking, and when getting on or off the lift. Therefore, there is a height limit for sledding. The sleds are designed for one rider at a time, so unfortunately, a child cannot ride with an adult.

How do I know when I can go sledding?
-Snow Kart is available when the Snow Kart Slope/Hissikelkkailurinne (slope no. 53) and the Kulkurinrinne slope (slope no. 51) are open, in accordance with Snow Kart operating hours, daily from 9:00/10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
