Season Opening
Welcome to open the new season with us!
Fun activities for the whole family on both sides of the fell – in Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo!
FRIDAY 5.12.
10 AM - 2 PM Ski testing, Dynafit, in Äkäslompolo
2 PM Avalanche safety lecture + beacon training field in Äkäslompolo
4-5.30 PM Opening of the Tubing Slope and KIDS area in Ylläsjärvi. You can also bring your own sled! Werneri bunny will also arrive! Free entry to KIDS area 4pm-5pm!
On the south side (Ylläsjärvi) the slopes are open until 7pm.
Challenge Pass: fill it in at your own pace during the weekend and win prizes. Available at Ylläsjärvi ticket office.
Slope orienteering competition and slope bingo throughout the weekend in Äkäslompolo.
SATURDAY 6.12.
9.45 AM Independence Day flag raising in Ylläsjärvi. Flagpoles are located at the entrance of Café Lippuluukku (near Hesburger). Glögi and gingerbread served.
Starting at 11 AM 108 SESSION Ylläs x Crazyday. Pop-up park session with plenty of fun in Ylläsjärvi! See the separate event description!
1 PM-3 PM Ski test center at Ylläsjärvi
1 PMTraditional ski touring race @POW in Äkäslompolo
12 PM - 2 PM Ski School pop-up activity testing at the Family Slope in Äkäslompolo.
At the Family Slope fire hut, Werneri bunny and an elf will be there with some small Christmas treats for the kids.
3 PM Season Opening Parade Run @POW – join the group at 2.45pm next to Ylläs Express station and lets ski together, Ylläsjärvi
SUNDAY 7.12.
10-11:30 AM Get to know the ski resort’s machines with Werneri-bunny! On the Ylläsjärvi side, close to Ylläs Express-chair lift bottom station
11-14 Tazza rinnerieha
12 PM Sled race in Äkäslompolo
2 PM Prize draw for slope orienteering winners in SkiPub Äkäslompolo
2 PM Tunturipuikka-slalom, Ylläsjärvi. A family-friendly competition, sign up at the info desk by 1.30 PM.
